Detritus Heroes Project Synopsis

Detritus Heroes project is a fictional story of African heroes who came together and formed a team of warriors to combat, create awareness and drive change about plastic pollution on the African continent and the world.

Project Description

The Detritus Heroes project is for all of us; you and I. It is about sustainability. It is about saving our planet. It is about plastic pollution. Detritus Heroes project has been and will continue to be created with the sole purpose of creating awareness and educating people about plastic pollution. The Detritus Heroes project seeks to prompt questions and drive change around the issue of illegal dumping which contributes to the extreme amount of plastic pollution found on both land and in the sea (Solar Impulse Foundation, 2019). The Detritus Heroes project uses hero characters to show and encourage Africans and the world that there exist heroes amongst ourselves, actually we are all heroes and it is about time we start acting because the clock is ticking. Otherwise there will be no future for us, our children and the future generations (Un Environment report, 2018).

Plastic pollution is destroying our beloved planet, according to Un Environment report (2018), apart from natural disasters that are currently occurring all over the world due to this issue, in the next fifty years there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish, it is shocking (Un Environment report, 2018).

The Detritus Heroes project in 2019 is focusing on plastic pollution. According to Solar Impulse Foundation (2019), the main cause of plastic pollution is ‘negligence’. The Detritus Heroes project’s main focus is to combat our worst behaviour of ‘negligence’ and illegal dumping which are the main cause of plastic pollution (Solar Impulse Foundation, 2019). It is about time we take responsibilities. It is about time we change our behaviour, our mind-sets and become the heroes for our planet.

Let’s be the heroes, let’s save our planet.
